# Add MasterCard Card

### Liquidity Pool

Giving a holder — an employee or an individual consumption — a MasterCard card takes two calls, because the card is entered on MasterCard's own page: no call of this API ever receives card details.

The two calls are a pair, and only the second one leaves the holder with a card:

1. [Start MasterCard Enrolment](/tri-doc/liquidity-pool/add-mastercard-card/start-mastercard-enrolment.md) answers with the material for MasterCard's Consent UI — an iframe URL valid for 15 minutes.
2. [Save MasterCard Card](/tri-doc/liquidity-pool/add-mastercard-card/save-mastercard-card.md) stores the card reference and the consent id the widget reported when it closed with `status: 'success'`.

Between the two, the card is entered by the person in MasterCard's widget. A flow that never reaches step 2 leaves nothing behind, and a stale iframe URL cannot be reused — start again from step 1.

**What both calls share**

* The holder is named the same way as in every other card call: exactly one of `employee_id` and `individual_consumption_id`. An individual consumption is a Business-account notion, so only a Business client can name one.
* One MasterCard card per holder: a holder that already has one is refused by both calls. Remove the existing card first.
* A Stripe card on the same holder is independent — a holder can have both, and neither call touches the other one.
* Both answer with the `{message, success, data, operations_count}` envelope; a refused call answers HTTP 400 with the reason in `message`.

MasterCard cards are view-only: nothing is ever charged to them. Purchases are paid by the Stripe card or from the balance.
